Tozeur



Tozeur is a Tunisian city which is located in the south-western part of the country, by the chott el Djerid. The Romans called the city Thusuros and in the ancient time it was one of main Roman outposts. It was also an important stoppage for the caravans who headed to the coastal cities in the Mediterranean for trade.


Tozeur to the tourist world is known for its beautiful oasis .The region is not completely flat and is characterized by several tiny valleys and riverbeds, also it is known for its 14th century medina and botanical gardens, palm grooves, natural springs and also for many other stunning views. It is also renowned for its world-famed dates.




The remarkable architecture of Tozeur and the unique doors with two to three knockers have equally fascinated the tourists visiting the place. From visiting historical buildings to adventurous hot-air balloon tour, tourists visiting Tozeur has everything to enjoy.




Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions is a mansion of a holy man and in the sma ll rooms of Sidi Aissa’s you will find some decorative elements used to make the interiors of the house more beautiful. There are also old documents written in Arabic which describe the process of distribut ion of water between the houses .




The Marabout of Sidi Bou Lifa is one of the most beautiful marab outs in Tunisia. The jujube tree which stands close to the tomb of Sidi Bou Lifa.Past the Marabout of Sidi Bou Lifa is a zoo and garden where you can see some animals and flowers.



The garden features many beautiful flowers and trees and usually Pheasants roam within the garden fearlessly. The zoo, though small has many interesting animals like baboons, lions, boars, snakes, camels…etc.
